Terms & Conditions
These terms govern all service bookings, maintenance visits, and installations undertaken by Barnfield Valve & Fitting with registered offices at 1 Barnfield Crescent, Exeter, EX1 1QT. By accepting a quotation or confirming an appointment, you agree to these operating conditions.
Parties and scope
These conditions apply between Barnfield Valve & Fitting (the contractor) and the property owner, tenant, or managing agent (the client) requesting sanitary fitting, valve replacement, or mechanical water maintenance. The agreed scope is strictly limited to the fittings and pipework segments detailed on the accepted work order.
Booking and quotes
Estimates provided remotely by photograph or phone are conditional on physical inspection of the pipework and incoming pressures. Formal binding quotations are issued in writing on site before brassware is uncoupled, and prices remain valid for thirty calendar days from delivery.
Performance of the work and access to the premises
The client must provide safe, unhindered access to all relevant valves, inspection hatches, water meters, and boiler cupboards during the agreed time slot. The client must also ensure the working area is free from hazards and that mains electricity is operational for testing and diagnostic equipment.
Prices, payment after completion and invoices
All fees become payable immediately upon physical completion and dry-wipe testing of the specified works. Settlement must be made by cash directly to the engineer on completion or via immediate bank transfer against the presented invoice. Card machines and digital card links are not accepted.
Cancellation and rescheduling
Clients may cancel or alter their booked appointment time without financial charge up to 24 hours prior to the scheduled arrival time. Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours notice where an engineer is already dispatched may incur a baseline attendance fee.
Liability, insurance and complaints
Barnfield Valve & Fitting maintains comprehensive public liability insurance covering domestic and commercial operations. We are not liable for pre-existing stress fractures on aged pipework, deteriorated lead joints outside the immediate work boundary, or water damage caused by historical leakage prior to our attendance. Any complaint regarding a fitted joint must be notified within seven days to allow immediate technical inspection.
Governing law
These terms and conditions, along with any separate service contracts, shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, and the parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
